Gardai arrest man after another man (30s) killed in assault at Dublin home

A man was found unresponsive at a home in the Shancastle area and subsequently pronounced dead at John Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown. Gardaí are conducting an investigation, preserving the scene for examination. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist were notified for a postmortem. A Senior Investigating Officer is leading the investigation, with an incident room established at Lucan Garda station. An appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage from motorists is ongoing as a man has been arrested under the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident at a home in the Shancastle area at around 5.50am on Monday morning. The man was found unresponsive and brought to John Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead.
The scene is preserved while Gardaí carry out an examination. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have both been notified, with a postmortem set to be carried out.
A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been set up at Lucan Garda station. Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
The man who was arrested in connection with the investigation is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in the Dublin area.
