During her Senate Intelligence Committee nomination hearing, Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump's pick for director of national intelligence, faced intense scrutiny over her previous support for Edward Snowden. Although she acknowledged his role in unveiling NSA's surveillance practices, she stopped short of branding him a traitor. Instead, Gabbard criticized his methods and asserted that whistleblowers have legal pathways to expose government misconduct. This ambivalence toward Snowden created friction with senators and might jeopardize her prospects for confirmation.
If it wasn't for Snowden, the American people would never have learned the NSA was collecting phone records and spying on Americans.
There would have been opportunities for him to come...to release that information. The fact is, he also...released information that exposed egregious, illegal and unconstitutional programs.
