Michael Murray, a former postal clerk for the USPS, admitted to stealing hundreds of pieces of mail while working at the Beach Street Post Office in Revere and the Melrose Post Office. His thefts occurred from April to July 2023, where he took items including cash and gift cards. In addition, he fraudulently generated USPS money orders for personal use. Pleading guilty in federal court, he faces severe consequences, including a maximum prison sentence of 15 years, with sentencing set for February 3.
Michael Murray, 37, of Lynn pleaded guilty to one count of theft of mail matter by an employee and one count of theft of government money.
Authorities said that between April 2023 and July 2023, Murray used his position as a postal clerk at the Beach Street Post Office in Revere and the Melrose Post Office to steal the contents of hundreds of pieces of mail.
