Radja Nainggolan, former midfielder for Inter and Roma, has been arrested in Belgium amid a cocaine trafficking investigation. The 36-year-old was detained following raids that uncovered 2.7 kilograms of cocaine, over 500,000 worth of luxury items, and more than 350,000 in cash. Nainggolan recently joined second-tier Lokeren but will miss an upcoming league match due to his arrest. Sixteen people were arrested in the investigation, highlighting serious importation issues related to cocaine from South America. Nainggolan was a notable footballer in Italy but hasn't played for Belgium's national team in six years.
Nainggolan's arrest comes amidst a large police operation targeting cocaine trafficking in Belgium, with 16 individuals detained as authorities found significant quantities of drugs and cash.
The club, Lokeren, stated: "The club respects the presumption of innocence and therefore cannot comment further" on Nainggolan's arrest while confirming his absence from training.
