There is an increasing demand for innovations in the large-scale production of chemicals, particularly fluorochemicals, due to global challenges such as raw material management and climate change.
Our recent activation strategy enables access to various fluorochemicals using a solid reagent prepared directly from acid-grade fluorspar, bypassing the hazardous production of hydrogen fluoride.
By implementing a mechanochemical reaction, we avoid the complexities associated with the production, storage, and transport of hydrogen fluoride, enhancing efficiency in fluorochemical synthesis.
Preliminary investigations of our fluorinating reagent have revealed some limitations, indicating that further research is needed to expand its application in the synthesis of fluoroarenes.
