Fire breaks out at asylum seeker accommodation centre in Co Wicklow

A fire broke out on November 25 at the Emergency Accommodation and Reception Centre in Kilbride Military Camp, triggering a multi-agency response involving An Garda Síochána, fire brigades, and military police. The Defence Forces confirmed the fire has been extinguished and an assessment of damage and an investigation are now underway to determine the cause and extent of the incident.
Emergency services responded promptly to the incident at Kilbride Military Camp, ensuring the safety of all individuals present in the facility, which has been designated for asylum seekers.
"The fire is now out, and all International Protection applicants and Defence Forces personnel are safe and accounted for. A damage assessment and investigation is currently ongoing," a spokesperson confirmed.
