The fire at Mossbourne Community Academy in Hackney resulted in the evacuation of 19 pupils and staff, with no injuries reported and significant damage to facilities.
Around 70 firefighters and ten fire engines were deployed to tackle the blaze, which was reported around 9.10am and was under control by 11.30am.
The fire destroyed two classrooms and a bathroom on the second floor of a purpose-built block at the school, prompting a swift emergency response.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, while crews used a 32-metre turntable ladder to effectively manage the blaze from above.
