"We are incredibly thankful to Coach Sides for embracing the challenge of leading us through an integral transition period over the last two seasons, while also positioning us well for future growth," Fever president of basketball operations Kelly Krauskopf said in a statement. "While decisions like these are never easy, it is also imperative that we remain bold and assertive in the pursuit of our goals, which includes maximizing our talent and bringing another WNBA championship back to Indiana."
Earlier this month, Krauskopf appeared to give a vote of confidence in Sides, saying, 'It takes time, and we have a talented roster that needs to grow together.' This acknowledgment of the team's potential showcased the pressure managing expectations and finding a lasting solution for the coaching position.
Under Sides, who spent two years as head coach, Indiana went 33-47, including 20-20 in 2024. The Fever's season ended with a two-game sweep in the first round of the playoffs by the Connecticut Sun, marking the end of Coach Sides's tenure and the continuation of a pattern of frequent coaching changes in the franchise.
