Planet Hollywood has made a notable comeback in Manhattan, reopening on West 42nd Street after investing $17 million. This revamped restaurant diverges from its original memorabilia concept, opting instead for immersive high-definition screens that entertain diners with movie and music visuals, including interactive elements. CEO Robert Earl emphasizes a strategic shift to attract local patrons rather than solely focusing on tourists. With deep roots in Hollywood dating back to the late '80s, Planet Hollywood aims to rejuvenate its legacy in the vibrant NYC dining scene, despite its past struggles during the COVID pandemic.
"Almost every wall space, and on one of the two floors, the ceiling as well, are all just screens," Planet Hollywood's CEO and founder, Robert Earl, exclusively told The Post.
"We put you on the screens as well. You can suddenly be inside a beautiful forest or an old cowboy town and Lil Nas is playing."
"In the past we focused on the theatergoers coming from across the water and visitors to the city, and we weren't targeting Manhattanites," said Earl.
"I always knew [Planet Hollywood] would make a comeback in the Big Apple," Earl mentioned regarding the restaurant's reopening.
