Over time, I've discovered this synthesis of humanity was right: some people can't envision a better future due to lack of information or learned helplessness.
Even if we could pop the latch to our cage, the punishment for those that didn't make it would be so severe that such a prospect rarely seems worth the risk.
This mindset discounts humanity's core strength: coordination. A culture of fear drives a self-fulfilling prophecy.
What do we as humans DO? We excel at thought-complex communication, altering our environment, innovating, and creating technology, but these are 2nd order effects.
