The ENO will start operations in Manchester with productions at the Lowry, Bridgewater Hall, and Aviva Studios, aiming to establish a strong presence by 2029.
Artistic director Annilese Miskimmon stated that the ENO's relocation marks the beginning of 'a bold and confident future for opera in the UK'.
The company plans to explore 'larger scale traditional opera' alongside 'more experimental work and intimate chamber work', broadening their audience base.
Chief executive Jenny Mollica noted that Greater Manchester offers 'limitless creative possibilities', allowing the ENO to innovate and develop new operatic visions.
