During a recent press conference, NTSB member Todd Inman expressed deep emotion regarding the mid-air collision over Reagan airport, which resulted in the deaths of three US service members and 64 people aboard a commercial jet. Inman highlighted the devastating impact on families, some seeking comfort and others filled with anger and confusion. He emphasized the ongoing recovery efforts and the necessity for safety improvements, urging the media and authorities to prioritize these changes to prevent future tragedies.
There's some that want to give us hugs. Some that are just mad and angry. They're just all hurt and they still want answers, and we want to give them answers.
The most devastating thing, I guess, today was they watched the news last night, and they know their loved ones were recovered. They're thinking, is it going to take longer?
I have a token I got when I joined the NTSB that reminds me the tragedy would eventually lead to measures to save lives in the future.
Unfortunately, at some point, all of you are going to be gone. We're still going to have the investigation open.
