Dubai's ambitious "Dubai Walk Master Plan," announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, envisions transforming the city into a pedestrian-friendly hub by 2040.
The plan will construct 6,500 kilometers of walkways, including 3,300 kilometers of new paths, and is set to significantly increase pedestrian and soft mobility from 13% to 25%.
Integrating culturally significant routes, the plan prioritizes building communities where essential amenities are accessible within 20 minutes by foot or bicycle.
The master plan is part of Dubai's broader Urban Master Plan 2040, aiming to make the city one of the healthiest and most sustainable globally.
