Doodlebug survivor Ena celebrates her 100th birthday surrounded by family
Briefly

Ena Mackenzie-Smith celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family, marking a century of resilience that includes surviving WWII and raising seven children as a single mother.
"There were quite a few family visitors on her birthday, and she seemed in good spirits. We had balloons all around the garden and garlands at the window. It was a good day," said her son Andrew.
Ena's journey began in 1924 when she was born weighing only three-and-a-half pounds, illustrating her early fight for life when she slept in a chest of drawers.
After the war, Ena's life was marked by hardships, including the death of her son, but she remained a matriarch for five generations, celebrating her legacy on her centenary.
