In Los Angeles, Google Earth users discovered messages like 'HELP,' 'TRAFFICO,' and 'TERRORISMO' written on a site near shipping yards, raising alarms about potential human trafficking. Locals speculated that these alerts signify distress, as the location is known for illicit activities associated with shipping containers. Despite social media's viral reaction, it was revealed that a local man named Jose has been writing these messages for years. While some residents worry about underlying criminal activities, others believe the messages may be a benign expression unrelated to trafficking.
'[José's] the one who puts [help] all the time,' she said. 'He writes it everywhere [...] it's been years,' she added, though she made clear she didn't know the reason why he has been writing the messages.
'This sounds like someone or a group are being trafficked and used materials available to them to spell out an SOS. I hope if a random person noticed, authorities noticed as well.'
We have all known for a long time that shipping containers are being used for human trafficking.
Concerned viewers also pointed out what appears to be holes or tunnel entrances nearby, speculating that nefarious activity may be taking place inside.
