Lakeview Estates One Limited has appealed Greenwich Council's refusal to build a 13-storey block of flats, arguing the plan was revised to address previous concerns.
Greenwich Council's Planning Board emphasized the detrimental impact on the historic 19th century chimney and the lack of affordable housing as key reasons for rejection.
Labour Councillor Gary Dillon expressed frustration over the council's need for affordable housing, stating, 'We are desperate for affordable homes; 27,000 people are looking for homes in this borough.'
The developer highlighted that a similar 13-storey scheme was previously granted permission in 2017 but never executed, indicating confidence in the new proposal's viability.
