Delaware Governor Matt Meyer has acknowledged the challenges posed by companies threatening to leave the state for incorporation, most notably Tesla, led by Elon Musk. Following a court's rejection of Musk's Tesla pay package, he has urged other companies to consider re-incorporating outside Delaware. Meyer insists on the state’s legal advantages and aims to strengthen relationships with corporations facing issues. He highlighted that Delaware houses 2.2 million registered entities, and that the state is ready to address concerns to retain the companies considering relocation.
The fact is Delaware is the best location in the world for a company to incorporate, and that's thanks to our legal expertise dating back to 1792.
Any company thinking about leaving, we're actively reaching out, we're talking to them, we're understanding what the issues are and understanding what ways we can do better.
If any entity leaves Delaware, we're going to work to win them back.
Any lawyer still recommending incorporation in Delaware at this point should be sued.
