Emergency responders were called at approximately 8:30 AM on Monday after reports surfaced regarding a man spotted in the water in street clothes at Davenport Landing Beach.
The victim was swiftly pulled from the surf and subsequently pronounced dead, but it remains uncertain if this incident connects to a prior ocean rescue attempt over the weekend.
Authorities reported that the identity of the deceased is not being released until the next of kin has been notified, ensuring respect for the family during this tragic moment.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office is managing the investigation, and they are working to ascertain any links between the recent drowning and other rescue calls.
