The new changing rooms at Daillens Sports Centre showcase a small environmental footprint through the thoughtful use of local materials and innovative design suited to its functional requirements.
The building’s elegant design, echoing the Jura mountains, creatively integrates a curved metal roof that provides a welcoming atmosphere between the sunflower fields and football pitch.
Using locally sourced lowland larch and made-to-measure straw insulation, the architects emphasize sustainability while adhering to the dimensions of vintage straw bales throughout the design.
The structure consists of 37 repeated frames of glued laminated timber and prefabricated elements, underlining a strong connection to the local community and craftsmanship.
