La Peña Cultural Center has hosted a beloved, free event that celebrates Afro-Cuban folkloric music and dance styles known as rumba for 12 years. Scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, this participatory gathering invites attendees to sing, dance, or watch the performances. Rumba itself is a cultural fusion with roots in rural Cuba, characterized by its African drumming and Spanish poetry influences, creating a vibrant atmosphere that encourages communal participation. While entry is free, donations are appreciated to support the event's continuation.
