Cricket Australia is urging fans to prepare for high temperatures at the MCG, with forecasts predicting 40C on Boxing Day for the Border-Gavaskar Test.
Chief of cricket James Allsopp emphasized the need for fans to take precautions, advising sunscreen, hats, and staying hydrated during the match.
During extreme heat, officials can adjust drinks breaks and suspend matches if necessary. The cricket extreme heat policy is more lenient compared to tennis.
Allsopp noted that while forecasts are uncertain, the likelihood of harsh conditions may be lower in the earlier sessions of play.
