Confusion over future of sexual health clinic sparks clash
Briefly

The Town Clinic in Enfield, part of the Enfield Clinics Health Organisation (Echo), was initially under threat of closure last autumn due to council negotiations driven by financial pressures. A petition launched by a senior Echo staff nurse garnered over 3,500 signatures, prompting strong support from opposition councillors. Recently, council officials announced that the clinic will remain operational, alongside another site at White Lodge Medical Practice. The discussions have been contentious, with claims of misinformation and misunderstandings regarding the council's actions in managing the services.
At the time the petition was launched, council leader Cllr Ergin Erbil said the council was in extensive negotiations as it needed to make changes due to financial pressures. He did not deny the clinic was under threat of closure.
Critically central to the failure of this opposition paper is an amateurish lack of understanding of the prudent rules which exist to ensure fairness, transparency, and competition in the merging of contracts.
Cllr Cazimoglu reiterated that the existing clinic site will remain open, adding "there will be no change. White Lodge Medical Practice in Chase Side, a second site where Echo operates, will be retained as well."
In response, opposition leader Alessandro Georgiou accused the Labour group of not knowing what they're talking about.
