Columbus stays Italian until Spanish scientists publish data DW 10/17/2024
Briefly

"DNA simply cannot show that someone is or was Jewish (a religious and/or cultural identity, not an ancestry). At most you might show with high probability that someone has relatives today or in the past who were or are Jewish," Iain Mathieson, a geneticist at the University of Pennsylvania, US, told DW.
The documentary, titled "Columbus DNA: The true origin," led by forensic researchers from the University of Granada, presents claims that could overturn long-held beliefs about Columbus' identity.
Experts have expressed skepticism regarding the documentary's claims, as the results have not been published in a scientific journal and therefore remain unverifiable.
Columbus, who led Spain's exploration of the Americas in 1490, has become a controversial figure due to the oppression faced by indigenous populations as a result of his voyages.
