Cold Case Task Force helps identify missing Monterey County fisherman from 1990s

In 2021, partial skeletal remains were recovered from a fishing net offshore, identified as Jeffrey Lyndon Hulliger, lost at sea in 1997. Hulliger, along with his friend Greg Mitchell, disappeared during a fishing trip. The remains were clothed but had no identification. A forensic analysis entered the case into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System with no initial leads. In 2022, advanced DNA analysis by Othram confirmed Hulliger’s identity through familial matching, although Mitchell remains missing.
