Carshalton armed standoff: We prepared to evacuate while my mum had seizures'
Briefly

On January 30, residents of Bramblewood Close faced a tense situation as armed police surrounded a home, resulting in a man's arrest following a six-hour standoff. Aston Massey, a resident, described how her disabled mother's anxiety led to seizures during the ordeal. Police were initially called for an assault, and upon arrival, requested backup after encountering an armed suspect. Negotiations with the suspect concluded around 2:50 PM, with a gun, later identified as an imitation, recovered from the scene. Thankfully, there were no reported serious injuries.
They [the armed police] had every angle covered that you can imagine. They were on the road. They were in back gardens. They were in people's doorways.
I had to stay calm because my mum was panicking. She was upset. She started having seizures.
Officers were called to reports of an assault at an address in Bramblewood Close at 8.45am. Police attended but requested specialist armed officers as backup.
Negotiations lasted until approximately 2.50pm, when the suspect was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.
