'Burg's Future Hermes Turns Bronze After $35 Million Sale
Briefly

The future Hermès store at 111 North 6th Street in Williamsburg is nearing completion on its exterior despite ongoing interior work. The recent removal of the green construction fence revealed the building's design, which features newly installed bronze bricks and columns, standing out against its faux old-new look that sparked social media discussions. Although the interiors are unfinished and lacking an occupancy certificate, construction is reportedly ahead of schedule for a 2026 launch, following its acquisition by Empire State Realty Trust for $35 million in October.
The exterior is looking close to done, while work inside continues. The green construction fence came down and for a short while the future Hermès store could be seen in (almost) all its naked glory on the corner of North 6th and Berry Street in Williamsburg.
The rear of the building at 111 North 6th Street is newly clad in bronze bricks and matching bronze-finished columns. The singular design contrasts with the rest of the building, whose faux new-old look generated chatter on social media when it emerged from scaffolding in the fall.
While more elaborate build-out and finishes are not yet in place, and the project has neither a temporary nor permanent certificate of occupancy, it appears ahead of schedule for its planned 2026 opening.
In October, new owner Empire State Realty Trust bought the property from seller L3 Capital in October for $35 million, public records show.
