Frontier Airlines is reconfiguring its fleet to include first-class seating, reflecting a broader trend where low-cost carriers are introducing premium options to attract wealthier travelers.
We've listened to customers, and they want more-more premium options, like first class seating, attainable seat upgrades, more free travel for their companions, and the ability to use miles on more than just airfare," Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said.
The changes come after an overhaul of its pricing structure, introducing various booking options and eliminating change and cancellation fees for three of those options.
After the pandemic, there is a clear preference for more premium," Southwest CEO Robert Jordan noted, pointing to a shift in consumer behavior toward better travel experiences.
