Brushing Up Scott Csoke's East Williamsburg Railroad
Briefly

Scott Csoke, an artist, transformed their generic railroad apartment after feeling inspired during a gallery painting in Richmond, Virginia. Initially hesitant, they bought pink paint and spontaneously painted trompe l'oeil plaster molding in their bedroom, channeling fashion illustrator Christian Bérard. This impulse led them to renovate the entire apartment, with Csoke incorporating artistic details throughout. Their bedroom also serves as a studio for their artwork, which has been showcased in galleries. Their roommate appreciated the new look but opted not to change her own room.
In late 2023, Csoke says, 'I just walked to the hardware store, bought a can of pink paint, and began in my bedroom.'
