Bromley tax-payer furious after sinkhole workmen were 'sleeping on the job'
Briefly

A deep sinkhole appeared on Palace Road in Bromley several weeks before Christmas, prompting contractors from Bromley Council to respond. Local residents are frustrated with the lack of progress, reporting that after seven weeks, contractors seem inactive, often found sitting in their vans. The closure of the road has created parking difficulties for those living nearby, despite the council's promise to refund residents for their permits. Miscommunication regarding the timeline and on-site activity has compounded residents' dissatisfaction.
Seven weeks ago, a sinkhole appeared outside the Anglesey Arms... there was a massive problem because the sinkhole was five metres deep.
The problem with our road is that we pay a residence permit of 80 a year, and it's very unfair what they've done to us... parking has become a huge problem.
Over the last few weeks, vans turn up with two men in each one... they just sit there in their van... they're not doing anything.
Residents were reportedly told that the operation to fix the sinkhole would kick off on January 17, but... this doesn't appear to be true.
