The latest OpenVault Broadband Insights update indicates that upstream data consumption is increasing at more than double the rate of downstream growth, a surprising new milestone.
Year-on-year upstream growth reached 13.9%, while downstream usage increased by only 6.8%, marking the lowest growth since tracking began in 2017.
The average monthly data consumed in the third quarter of 2024 stands at 590.1GB, with growth reaching a mere 7.2%, the lowest on record.
Demographic analysis reveals that households earning under $50,000 per year average the highest monthly data usage at 639GB, despite slower internet speeds of 530Mbps.
