Michael Whitbread, 75, a British man living in Italy, confessed to stabbing his partner Michele Faiers, 66, to death amidst a violent argument, claiming self-defense.
During the trial, Whitbread testified that Faiers's accusations of infidelity over months led to ongoing violent arguments, culminating in a fatal confrontation.
In a tense moment before the stabbing, Faiers allegedly attacked Whitbread, expressing her wish that he were dead, before he panicked and grabbed a knife.
Whitbread described the breakdown of his relationship with Faiers as torturous, stating that her persistent accusations led him to suicidal thoughts prior to her death.
