"People often remark that it's like the Tardis from Doctor Who, as from the outside it looks deceptively small," says Brian Colhoun, describing his home. The deceptive exterior of the house gives way to a surprisingly bright and spacious interior once you open the front door, indicating how important effective home renovations can be in transforming living spaces.
Keenan did away with the outdoor toilet that was characteristic of houses built a century ago, installing a modern one indoors. 'While it hadn't been modernised, it was in fairly good condition,' explains Colhoun, noting the house's rustic charm versus modern amenities.
In 2020, Colhoun and Keenan relocated temporarily to facilitate building an extension. 'We thought a lot about how to do the extension... It made sense given the extensive garden we had,' he shared about their careful planning process.
