Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz stated that after a review, there was no evidence suggesting FBI undercover agents participated in the January 6 Capitol riot.
Horowitz noted, 'None of these FBI CHSs were authorized to enter the Capitol or a restricted area, or to otherwise break the law on January 6.'
In his report, Horowitz emphasized that there was no direction given to any CHS to encourage illegal behavior during the events of January 6.
The investigation confirmed that while FBI confidential human sources were present, they were not active participants or directed to commit illegal acts at the Capitol.
