Brazil's former President Jair Bolsonaro, along with 36 others, has been indicted for allegedly attempting a coup to retain power following his election loss in 2022.
The investigation's findings, which consist of around 700 pages, are now critical to ongoing political dynamics, with Bolsonaro's influence waning as his allies line up to seize voter support.
Political science professor Carlos Melo remarked that the failing mayoral election results further diminish Bolsonaro's standing, creating a vacuum for new leaders among right-wing cohorts.
Despite the looming charges, Bolsonaro is determined to fight the indictment, attributing it to 'creativity' and denying any wrongdoing regarding his post-election actions.
