Brazil's president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has canceled his trip to the Brics summit due to a fall that caused a minor brain haemorrhage, but will participate via videoconference.
Lula's doctor, Roberto Kalil, explained, "Any brain haemorrhage, theoretically, can worsen in the following days, so observation is important," emphasizing the need for careful follow-up.
The presidential office announced that Lula's condition is stable, with advice to avoid long-haul flights, yet he is otherwise able to carry out regular duties.
Gleisi Hoffmann, head of Lula's Workers' party, reassured that Lula is doing very well, indicating the president can engage in normal activities while avoiding strenuous travel.
