Boy stayed by mom's side 12 hours after she died in crash, California officials say
Briefly

A 7-year-old boy remained by his mother's side for about 12 hours after both were ejected from their vehicle in a serious crash. The incident occurred when a Subaru Crosstrek driven by the mother veered off Highway 168 in Fresno County, ultimately resulting in her death. A search led to the child's discovery walking along the highway. Despite his injuries, including a broken arm, he was reported to be in high spirits following a reunion with his father at the hospital. Investigations into the crash are ongoing, including a pending toxicology report.
"Vehicle traveled off the embankment, rolled over multiple times," said one first responder.
"It was basically sitting in a grove of trees, covered and not visible from the highway," said Marsh.
First responders say the 7-year-old is a strong little boy. We're told he is in high spirits given the circumstances.
