Bay Area commercial Dungeness crab season starts Sunday after delays
Briefly

"I'm excited to get going finally," said crab fisherman Mike Harvie, who has been crabbing for 15 years. The season is set to start on January 5.
"Everyone is excited. The fishermen are all gearing up. Putting bait on the boat," said John Barnett, the president of the San Francisco Crab Boat Owners Association.
The delay this year was due to the presence of whales, leading to concerns about fishing safety. "We’ve been having issues fishing around whales," Barnett noted.
"We really appreciate the public's patience. Maybe by the evening of Sunday, we'll have crabs off the boat sales. We'll have crabs in the fish markets," Barnett added.
