Auckland was the first major city to count down to the new year, where thousands celebrated with colourful fireworks from Sky Tower and downtown light displays.
Fireworks also blasted off the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as over a million people gathered for the celebration, featuring Robbie Williams and Indigenous performances.
