As Trump cuts federal jobs, even national parks are on the chopping block
Briefly

The Trump administration's budget cuts are affecting national parks, as seasonal workers received emails rescinding their 2025 job offers. This affects numerous parks including Yosemite and Death Valley, where seasonal staff play crucial roles in park operations. The absence of these workers raises concerns over park safety and maintenance, with many parks relying heavily on seasonal staffing to function effectively. Employees express worries about being able to manage large park areas without these essential workers, leaving visitor experiences uncertain as the tourism season approaches.
The seasonal workers who staff 433 national parks and historical sites, began receiving emails stating their job offers for the 2025 season had been rescinded.
To me, it's unfathomable that we would be able to run a large park without the seasonal workers; they are essential and run the parks on an operational level.
