Archer Aviation, originally focusing on air taxis, is now investing heavily in defense, having secured $300 million in new funding and forming a partnership with Anduril to develop a VTOL aircraft for defense use. This reflects a broader trend in the aerospace industry, as rival firms also align with military interests to tap into a growing market, highlighted by Archer's strategic commitment to defense initiatives.
As we dug into the work we were doing on the defense front, we realized that the market was a lot larger than we initially expected, both in terms of scope as well as timing.
We're the only company in the space that I think is targeting a sizable defense program of record, so we really want to be strategic with the investments we're making.
