Apple to pay $95m to settle Siri 'listening' lawsuit
Briefly

Apple has agreed to pay $95m to settle a court case accusing its devices of eavesdropping through the Siri virtual assistant without user permission.
The claimants allege that Apple recorded conversations activated unintentionally, noting that these audio recordings were potentially shared with advertisers for targeted marketing.
Apple has proposed a decision date in February 2024 while denying any wrongdoing and asserting that they have deleted individual Siri recordings prior to October 2019.
The class action lawsuit allows US claimants to receive up to $20 per Siri-enabled device owned from 2014 to 2019, with legal fees potentially reaching $30m.
