Antisemitism in Amsterdam: Letters to the Editor - Nov. 12, 2024
Briefly

The recent ambush of Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam is appalling and has no place in any civilized society. Antisemitic acts too often receive muted responses, reinforcing the idea that Jewish lives are somehow less deserving of protection and justice.
What is particularly troubling is the glaring disparity in how these events are reported and condemned. Had the situation been reversed - had Jews attacked Muslims - the global response would undoubtedly have been swift and loud. The hypocrisy is disheartening.
This pogrom not only underscores the disaster Holland has brought upon itself with its policy of welcoming thousands of radical, Jew-hating immigrants but casts a shadow on the nation’s historical treatment of its Jewish population during World War II.
Governments, global institutions and media organizations must do better. A double standard exists, and the response to antisemitism must be as loud and vigorous as any other form of hate.
