Anti-tourist backlash in Europe causes cruise ships to change course
Briefly

The rising backlash against overtourism has put cruise passengers at risk, prompting the Cruise Lines International Association to consider avoiding popular destinations.
Marie-Caroline Laurent, CLIA’s European director, stated, 'There will be some consideration of adapting the itineraries if for some reason we feel that all passengers will not be well-treated.'
Barcelona, as the most frequented port for cruise ships, stated it cannot accommodate more than 3.5 million tourists, despite the CLIA's claims.
Cruise ships have become a target for protests, with one study showing that Europe's luxury cruise ships emit as much toxic sulphur as 1 billion cars.
