Daniel Penny, a Marine veteran acquitted last year in a highly publicized subway killing, has been appointed to a deal partner position at Andreessen Horowitz (A16z). The firm’s American Dynamism team will benefit from Penny's experience. He was found not guilty of criminally negligent homicide earlier this year following the death of Jordan Neely, a homeless performer. A16z aims to invest in sectors supporting the national interest, including defense, education, and public safety, and has welcomed Penny’s addition from this perspective.
Daniel is a Marine Corps veteran who served his country and, in a frightening moment in a crowded New York City subway car, did a courageous thing.
Penny will support the venture capital firm's American Dynamism team, its website said.
Incredible news.
The firm set up its American Dynamism group in 2023 to invest in founders and companies that support 'the national interest.'
