An American man, who checked into Ballyfin Demesne hotel, was found dead in a leisure area after a "sustained" assault, confirming the gardaí's investigation.
The incident occurred just hours after the victim arrived in Ireland, shocking guests and staff at the five-star Co Laois hotel.
