Almost half of Australia to swelter in heatwave weather with Perth and Brisbane to bear brunt
Briefly

Australia is bracing for an extensive heatwave, affecting much of Western Australia and Queensland, particularly in Perth and Brisbane. Forecasts show maximum temperatures could exceed averages by more than 12C, creating dangerous conditions. Perth recorded 43.6C, while Geraldton equalled its hottest record of 49.3C. The Bureau of Meteorology emphasized that heatwaves are measured over three days rather than single high-temperature spikes. The ongoing heat and high humidity could last for several days, with predictions of continued high night-time temperatures until the weather pattern changes.
Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist, Miriam Bradbury, stated, 'Heatwaves are less about how high those peak temperatures are going to get and more about how long the really hot conditions are going to last.'
The forecast weather is expected to create uncomfortable and dangerous conditions, particularly in Perth and Brisbane, where temperatures could exceed averages by 12C.
