Airlines paid out thousands of euro in compensation after dozens of passengers sued over food or drink burns

Since a pivotal ruling by the EU Court of Justice in 2019, airlines have seen a significant rise in personal injury claims related to scalding incidents involving hot food and beverages. In the last six years alone, data reveals that more than 100 such claims have been filed with the Injuries Resolution Board, highlighting the growing concern for passenger safety and the financial repercussions for airlines due to these incidents.

Since the EU Court of Justice ruling in 2019, there has been a notable increase in personal injury claims against airlines for incidents involving hot food or drinks.

Over the past six years, more than 100 claims have been submitted to the Injuries Resolution Board by passengers scalded by servings on flights.
