After 34 years, the Blue Man Group ends run in NYC
Briefly

The Blue Man Group is concluding its 34-year run in New York City on February 2 after nearly 18,000 performances. Despite ending its NYC and Chicago shows, the group will continue in Boston, Las Vegas, and Berlin, with plans for a new show in Orlando. Known for its innovative blend of comedy and visual art, the Blue Man Group, which has been a cultural icon since its debut in 1991, was acquired by Cirque du Soleil in 2017. The shutdown reflects a reevaluation following Cirque's bankruptcy in 2020.
For over 30 years, three bald and blue men have taken millions of people beyond any language barrier, introducing a new imaginative art form through music, comedy and unexpected elements of surprise.
The popular Off Broadway program, known for body painting acts and, well, blue-colored men on stage has been shaping the local theater community for over three decades and its absence will certainly be felt across artistic circles.
