San Mateo Sheriff Christina Corpus received expensive gifts from her alleged paramour, Chief of Staff Victor Aenlle, prompting a county investigation into their supposed affair.
According to the report by retired Judge LaDoris Cordell, Corpus received luxury gifts, including $1,200 Louboutin boots and $11,000 diamond earrings, raising serious ethical concerns.
The investigation included a text message from Aenlle asking Corpus to send a picture of her expensive earrings, which she promptly did, revealing their close relationship.
Despite the allegations and the county supervisors' vote expressing no confidence in her leadership, Corpus claims her relationship with Aenlle is merely friendship.
