Paddy Cole, a revered Monaghan musician, passed away at 85 after battling lung cancer for three years. His funeral Mass was led by Fr Brian D'Arcy, who highlighted Cole's talents and character, recalling their long friendship. Cole's musical journey included a noteworthy stint with the Capitol Showband and performances in New Orleans. Fr D'Arcy praised him for his professionalism, showmanship, and charity work. Cole was known for making his audiences happier after his performances, reflecting his impact on the music scene and community.
He was such a respected musician, that in the home of jazz, which is New Orleans, he was invited to play in a jazz band.
Whenever you went to a Paddy Cole gig, you came out happier than you went in. Which is a wonderful tribute to anybody.
He had his private charities that nobody knew about. He always played for the Make A Wish charity.
